This insignia is a WWII Canadian Army badge for the Elgin Regiment, also known as "The Elgins". It features the regiment's motto, "OFFICIUM PRIMUM" (Latin for "Duty First"), on a scroll at the bottom.
The badge displays two main images under a King's crown:
On the left, an image of St. George and the Dragon, which the regiment was authorized to incorporate into its badge in 1931 due to an affiliation with the British Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.
