Wonderful organic monumental museum-quality and extremely rare, signed vase with three openings by June E. Kapos. Works by June E. Kapos of this level of execution are found in museums and private collections and rarely come up for sale. The color and composition of this vase was executed in the mid-1960’s and is reminiscent of the work she exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1964 and 1966.
The vase is fairly heavy and exhibits an organic earth tone drip pattern, some differently-toned glaze lines, & intentional textures that occurs on opposite sides of the vase, giving it three-dimensional quality which allows it to be displayed on all sides. It emulates a stone with a wooden-like texture & glaze.
