Beautiful Japanese Tanto bone handle (tsuka) that was created in the Meiji period (1868-1912) with lovely intricate carvings. This handle has been confirmed as bone, not ivory, due to visible small pits in the carving where blood vessels once were. There is no dagger/blade included.
This would have had an inexpensive dagger that it was shielding, as the focus was on the handle carvings.
Own a real & unique antique piece of history. Would make an amazing gift or addition to an Asian collection!
Wear on the piece due to age, there is a small chip as pictured, but does not effect closure.
Always open to considering reasonable offers. However, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, so please review photos and contact us with any questions prior to purchase.
This listing is certainly vintage, previously owned, used, loved, or just not in brand new condition. On the plus side, the dirt and dust are free!
