First edition (print number not stated) hardcover copy of Hartmann the Anarchist or, The Doom of the Great City by E. Douglas Fawcett (Edward Arnold, 1893). With illustrations by Fred T. Jane. Incredibly rare science fiction novel, long out of print until recently. A very worn copy with staining and wear to pictorial covers. Edges bumped and frayed. Cracked hinges and several instances of split binding, though all pages appear to remain attached. Liquid damage to covers and most pages, mostly limited to outer edges and near gutters. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper. See photos for condition.
