beautiful antique blue and white English transferware serving tray, dating to the late Victorian-Edwardian period (c.1890- 1920). This elegant tray features a classic chinoiserie landscape with pagodas, bridges, mountains and boats, framed -by intricate geometric borders. Pieces like this were traditionally used for afternoon tea, sandwiches or cakes, and are now highly sought after for both use and display. The tray is unmarked, which is typical for English wares of this period, particularly serving pieces. The shape, glaze and transter printing clearly place it within the late 19th / early 20th century English tradition.
