“Cotton” is up for another Major League trial because of his fine record at Rochester in ‘53. He had brief trials w/ the Red Sox in ‘47 & ‘48, then was brought by the Cards & called up in ‘50 after a 14-8 mark & 2.75 ERA at Columbus. He played in the outfield in Columbus in ‘51 & then returned to the mound to win 14 for Rochester in ‘52.

A switch hitter, Cotton was often used as a pinch hitter!
In the ‘51 season he played outfield for Columbus (A.A.)!
He went back to pitching again in ‘52 & ‘53, & his good record won him a bid from the Big Leagues!
